About Moremi Game Reserve

The Moremi Game Reserve initially consisted mainly of the Mopane Tongue Area, but in the 1970s, a royal hunting ground was designated Chief’s Island. Moremi Game Reserve is regarded as the home of the most endangered large mammals, including the Cheetah, white rhinoceros, black rhinoceros, lion, and African Wild Dog. 

Over 500 bird species, ranging from waterbirds to forest dwellers, and over 1000 plant species are recognized in the Moremi. It is regarded as the richest part of Africa. This ecosystem is the richest in Africa. The flora and fauna are relatively undisturbed. 

Moremi covers around 40% of the Okavango. At the same time, the annual flood provides a spectacular interaction between water and wildlife, as most animals synchronize their cycles with it. Best Time to Visit Moremi Game Reserve

Moremi Game Reserve offers amazing safari activities year-round; however, the best time to visit depends on what one wishes to see and do. Seasons have their own scenery, games, and places to explore.

Dry Season (May to October)

It is the season when people can best see the game because the animals congregate around water points, making wildlife easier to see. The weather is also cool, and the skies are clear with great conditions to be able to go on game drives.

Wet Season (November to April)

The reserve turns into a green heaven with flattering rain. It is the best time of year to watch birds and take photographs, with fewer people and dramatic scenery.

Peak Time to View Wildlife (June- September)

The best times to view wildlife are when animals are at rivers and floodplains, as they are most concentrated there. Predators are always on the move, thus enhancing the possibility of exciting experiences.

Birdwatching (December to March): Best Time.

Migratory birds come to the reserve in large numbers, enriching its colors and movement. This is when bird lovers have the best time of seeing a wide variety of birds.
